Well, look at that. We have a BBS now.
After spending way too much time wandering through old GeoCities archives and remembering when the Internet was made out of actual websites instead of a handful of giant feeds, I decided nitetime.net needed something it has been missing: a place to hang around.
So the NITETIME.NET BBS is officially online at bbs.nitetime.net.
Going forward, this is going to be the dumping ground for all things Nitetime. New music, artwork, UFO nonsense, Lake Koshkonong transmissions, retro computers, Commodore experiments, radio stuff, weird Internet discoveries, local happenings, projects in progress, behind-the-scenes experiments, and whatever else comes flying through the signal at 2:00 in the morning.
Social media is great for throwing something into the feed and watching it disappear twelve hours later. I want something different. I want a place where conversations can stick around, projects can develop, strange information can accumulate, and somebody can stumble onto a thread three years from now and wonder what we were all doing.
Basically, I want a website again.
Not just content. Not just a feed. A weird little place on the Internet with rooms, regulars, old posts, inside jokes, unfinished experiments, and probably a few links that lead somewhere unexpected.
The main nitetime.net site will keep carrying the video, music, live broadcasts and other media, but the BBS is where everything can come together and where you can actually jump into the conversation.
